GreenGrid is a data-driven platform that helps cities optimize where to build green space. Planners input a capital budget and GreenGrid returns the optimal portfolio of candidate sites across the city, accounting for overlapping coverage so no two adjacent parks get double-counted.
Green space priority is calculated from a combination of park access gaps, equity need, urban heat burden, and ecological factors, and planners can view each of those layers individually on the map to understand what is driving recommendations in any given neighborhood. Each recommended site comes with a cost estimate and a breakdown of what it should prioritize — whether that is cooling a heat-vulnerable block, adding canopy to an impervious surface, or closing a park access gap in an underserved community.
